Both packages have roughly the same learning curve I think. (if you already know one package the learning curve for a new one is steeper for some reason.)
Another thing Houdini doesn't hide as much as the technical underworkings as Maya does, which IMHO is a good thing because you'll learn some of the technical parts just because they are there.
Plus there is nothing better than an artist who can fix their own small technical problems

I haven't seen those images in a few months now and I'd also forgotten how great they look! PS. For those of you who didn't notice, there's an extra large version under the quicktime icon's menu.

one of my professors worked on this, kinda cool to get some insight on what he did and such.

Nice, the high res version looks so much better than that crappy little 160x120 teaser they had. I was worried there for a little bit. :? Good job to all you slackers and sesi folk that worked on it.

arctor sweet jebus! $77K?…all online? PLEASE do post any questions you have….I'm sure we can offer some advice before you drop that kind of cash….so in the states you have to pay for uni up-front??
