Redshift 3D [www.redshift3d.com] has released version 2.5.42 which adds support for GPU rendering with Houdini 16.5!

EDIT: There was a problem with the 2.5.41 release that caused issues on some Windows platforms. After some discussion with SideFX, Redshift release 2.5.42 resolved the issue so that Houdini 16.5 is fully supported by Redshift across all platforms.

Will there be a demo version for 16.5?

I'm sure they will, just give them some time.

After spending 4hrs trying to figure out, i want to let the community know that the redshift demo 2.5.32 version only works with Houdini 16.0.705.

I'm sure that in a near future this will change though.

No need to demo it, just buy it and end all these silly rendering discussions.

Hi Marcolax, sorry to hear about your troubles.

Redshift is built against HDK versions, not Houdini versions (they are not the same thing). So, Redshift supports multiple HDK versions, allowing it to fit into alot more pipelines that are using various Major Versions of Houdini.

This also allows Redshift to work with Daily Builds of Houdini, so, as you noticed, the Redshift version 2.5.32 Demo that you downloaded works with Houdini version 16.0.705, but it will also work with Daily Builds of Houdini 16.0.x, such as the latest Daily Build of Houdini 16.0.785

According to the Redshift Forum the latest Redshift (2.5.41) doesn't work with 16.5. The exact message is:

“THE HOUDINI 16.5 BUILD IS BROKEN. THIS APPEARS TO BE DUE TO A PROBLEM WITH HOUDINI 16.5 AND NOT REDSHIFT
PLEASE DO NOT POST ABOUT HOUDINI 16.5 ISSUES HERE.”

Do you guys know about this? What's the SideFX view?

Some Windows users have experienced problems loading the Redshift plugin. Redshift Devs have filed a support ticket with SESI.

cant make redshift work in h16.5,
assuming ths is still an issue ?

We have been using rs 2.5.51 with 16.5 in production for quite a while now.
