Hi there,

Trying to learn modelling in Houdini, I've encountered a weird problem on the top edge of the model at subdividing my it.

What can be wrong with it?
Please see the attachments. Thank you.

Hi, there is an issue with your normals for the inside. If you reverse the normals for inside and (re)enable reverse winding on the polybridge, it should work. I've attached a hip file.

As a side note, you can quickly check normal direction by pressing (D) Display options>Optimize>Remove Backfaces. (This is sometimes easier to spot errors than using the Normals Visualisation)

Thank you, Rob! Yeah, I supposed that it could be normals but didn't know how to fix them, thank you for the tip as well, cheers

You can use the facet, clean, or polydoctor tools to fix winding problems by orienting all the polygons the same direction.
