Not sure how much of you guys use this cool dedicated modeller and retopo software in your pipeline, but I thought I'd throw in this info anyway.

The AppLink allows for a quick geometry interchange between NVil (http://store.steampowered.com/app/592350/Nvil/) and Houdini (on SOP level). Only .obj is supported in the AppLink because Houdini doesn't allow for importing Filmbox and Collada files on SOP level.

Installation and usage instructions, as well as requirements, are provided in the README.md file.

Please report any bugs either here, or on project's issues section.

A small update which I had to do after I converted all of my computers to Debian. The AppLink now works on a Wine/GNU+Linux setup.

The only difference between Windows(NVil)/Windows(Houdini) setup vs Wine(NVil)/Houdini(GNU+Linux) is that the latter doesn't use RPC. So the User needs to manually press the Import shelf button in order to import the model exported from NVil back to SOP network.

There's also a change in how import is handled. With a SOP selected, the imported frozen model will become a child of the selected node. If nothing was selected, it will be put in the current Network path as an orphan.

I also simplified the installation procedure of the AppLink a bit. Formerly it was waaay overcomplicated.

PS. Check out the Draw Mesh retopo tool that ships with NVil: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyqukJQPFU8 [www.youtube.com]
