Hi SESI.
I think that the toggle single/quad command would be better if it would be toggle single/view for example.
So if a have a viewport with two view, for example when you press Ctrl+6, if a press t then the active view is maximized, if I press t again i return to my original vireport layout, not to the quad layout, like now happens.
If I am working in any layout and maximize one view, i want to return to my previous layouyt not always to the quad layout.
I think is more intuitive.
Thanks

I agree… I often use floating views to have multiple views at same time cause of lack of multiview proper setup.

Another workflow issue.
I use extensively custom panels.
I know I know, now we have OTLs, but custom panels are still pretty useful when one needs a simple interface for automate some parts of the scene.
Sometimes they are simple and useful.
Well if i have for example a custom panel saved in the HIP file, and i choose Auto Save, then when Houdini saves automatically my new file and I will lose the custom panels.
I understand that if I am saving the custom panels in the HIP file when the scene will be saved with another name it will be a different HIP.
But i think that is more intuitive to save the custom panels if I use Save As or Auto Save
Thanks

I tend to use empty otls for this, it gives you all the functionality of custom panels. You can link callback scripts to buttons and animate parameters. Just pop it in an unlinked pane and you wouldn't know it wasn't a custom panel anyway. Or am I missing some special use of custom panels that you can't do with otls?

There is no difference between you manually saving the file and Houdini automatically doing so. Hence your custom panels should not be lost. Indeed, a quick test shows that they're not.
Could you provide some simple steps to reproduce this?

Houdini 8.0.474
Try this …
1 start Houdini, toggle on Settings->Auto Save
2 Pane->Custom Pane
3 Options->Create New Panel
4 Edit Panel
5 Add a checkbutton and label
6 Accept
7 File->Save
8 Goto backup folder
9 Launch backup Houdini file
10 set pane to Custom Panel … voila no custom panel
This occurs with Auto Save and Incrementals. Hmmm?????

Auto-saving of custom panels works and it doesn't work.
From the looks of things, auto-saves are only triggered when you are interacting with Houdini. (If you leave Houdini open for 2 days over the weekend you won't come back to find 298742347 back up files.) However it seems that editting custom panels aren't triggering the auto-saver.
Following the directions *exactly* above and Houdini never actally saves anything out. But as soon as I touch a OP or change an OP parameter it saves the hip file WITH the custom panel.
So its not a problem of auto-saving not saving the custom panels….its seems to be custom panels don't trigger the auto-save. (Houdini thinks you aren't doing anything.)

I suspect you're correct about changes to custom panels not dirtying the current session, in which case it's a bug. That being the case, I'm personally more concerned about Houdini not warning you that a save is needed when you quit.

I hope it will be fixed for future release, because i have to remake my custom/s panels every time, fortunately i have some scripts that do the job, but sometimes is a pain.
You shouldn't have to. Just make sure you save before you quit. Or is the problem that Houdini crashes and you were counting on the autosave?

OndrejMany times this is the problem, i use Autosave because, I don't know why, with modeling, and sometimes working with character tools houdini crashes, this is the reason for which I began to use Autosave.lisux

And yes, when Houdini crashes I have the Autosave, which many times saved much time to me, but, you know, i lost my custom panels :?
