Pyro sim colour to points

I've got a standard pyro sim using the shelf tool to generate an explosion.

I've got some points from a box > isooffset > points from volume.

I was wondering if there is a way to transfer the colour from the pyro sim onto the points so in render it will look essentially like the lego movie explosions, where the pyro sim will look like a lego explosion.

I've tried using attributes from volume but the colour it stamps onto the points seem to be a range of different colours.

You can do that with the attrfromVolume in this example Im using the shelf tool “explosion” putting density first then killing the pt that I do not need and then using the heat to colorize the boxes. Im using the volumeres function (You could also use the pointsfromVolume) to match the resolution of the volume then also for the boxes that I'm copying Im using the same div size of the pyro.
