Viewport Bug (I think) / problems with solver

Hi guys! I'm really new to Houdini, but I seem to be getting a lot of viewport bugs when using solvers. Often, I'll have all of my visibility flags off in my obj window, but I can still see geometry in the viewport, and then it stacks itself on top of my geometry when I make it visible again. If I restart my file a few times the problem rectifies itself, but is there a way to refresh the viewport or something similar inside Houdini without restarting?

It could also be my fault. If the file I attached works perfectly, then I've found that if I go into my grid, then solver, then Attribute VOP, then back to the top, my viewport breaks again.. Is there something terribly wrong in my setup?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Can you provide specific steps on how to reliably reproduce the bug? For example, here's a set of steps I just tried that don't reproduce the bug:

0) Open Houdini 16.5.393.
1) File > Open… > select and open the file. (The scene is initially at /obj/grid1)
2) Double-click on the solver1 node in the network editor to dive in.
3) Double-click on the attribvop1 node
4) Click on “obj” in the path navigation widget above the network editor. (I'm not sure what people usually call it.)
5) I expected to see something weird, but things looked as expected.

Hi, thanks for your reply. Ironically I can't recreate it now, even though I was having it every time I ran my sim earlier today. I followed the same steps but in version 16.5.439 and they resulted in the bug, but don't any more. Seems restarting it about 10 times worked. I also found some advice saying open a new scene view tab which I think might've done the trick.

I'm incredibly sorry for wasting your time. I have a screenshot I took earlier of my problem though, just to assure you I'm not imaging things! http://oi63.tinypic.com/r7kqo4.jpg [oi63.tinypic.com] (Geo still visible even though only geo objects were hidden).

If I ever get it again I'll make a proper bug report, thanks again!

No problem. If you can find a reliable way of reproducing it at some point, please feel free to submit a bug report at https://www.sidefx.com/bugs/submit/ [www.sidefx.com] It tends to happen in cases after a whole bunch of diving in and out, which has made it difficult to debug and fix. Sometimes, the stuck geometry will even stick around after File New or File Open.

The easiest workaround that usually works is to just switch to Render View and then back to Scene View. You don't usually have to open a new tab.

Will do, thanks. Yeah I can imagine, it does generally happen when I'm diving in and out.

Ah okay that's even faster, cheers!
