Hello,
I am new to Houdini.
Houdini is different from 3Ds Max and other software in that the lights are outside the Geometry.
In 3Ds Max if I want to make for example a lamp geometry asset with a light I would simply place the light in a group with the geometry and this can be scattered or instanced anywhere. As far as I can see it is not as straight forward in Houdini.
In Houdini the only way as far as I understand it is to create a point in the geometry and instance the lights onto these points. This seems to me a rather convoluted process and not very flexible… Am I missing something perhaps? Is this just they way it works?
It would be great to have a lamp asset that could be placed scattered into an apartment level and then these levels are instanced and randomized.
