Full Version: TP C4D Data Channels from Houdini Particles

grrrgh
I am reading Houdini bgeo.sc files for particles using a simple file reader hda. The hda reads the files as particle geometry. I was expecting to see attributes showing up in the Thinking Particles Data Channels but nothing is there? Should there be?

If not is there another file format I can export from Houdini into C4D that will carry the attributes in a file sequence?

I know a single alembic file when imported will show attributes in the TP Data Channels. But due to the massive amount of particles and length of my project using a single ABC file is not an option. I'm also aware of the Alembic file sequence reader [johnsie.de] but this seems to only work with geometry.

So any help is appreciated, thanks!

Not sure if this is a bug or intentional or what. The data seems to be there but it is just not visible in the TP Data Channels on import through the HDA file reader. Confirmed by rendering color in Octane.

I imported an alembic particle geometry which does pull in the attributes and deleted it. But the Houdini attributes it brought in, remained in the TP Data Channels. This “should” give me access to them directly through xpresso if I need them given I confirmed the data is there.
