In case someone else is looking to try this before the next HE update, I did run into the same build issue on MacOS as for Linux with the enum forward references. Referencing your closed Git issue from last week solved that (

I haven't yet been able to successfully build UE4 from source, but at least got past the above error.
To isolate the build environment, I removed the Houdini source from the build and am running into other issues that should be unrelated to Houdini. This is a clean source download of UE 4.25.4 on an updated MacOS 11.0.1 Big Sur with XCode 12.2… something with “XCodeBuild.sh failed with exit code 6” for which I cannot find any information yet.
May we have any further clarification on the UE4.25+ bump in requirements that prevents SideFX from building the plugin with Houdini? I just hate spending weekends wrestling with build issues versus wrangling nodes :-)
