Point deform with falloff?

Hi guys,

I cut out part of a character to do some simulation work on it.

But when I try to point deform that upper torso to the original full body the lower half freaks out.

Is there a way to paint a mask where I want the point deform to affect?

Sort of, but you'll have to build the rig yourself. Feed the point deformed geo and the original with the mask into a point wrangle/point vop and use a lerp function or mix node with the mask controlling the blend between the two input's position values.
