Is there an easier way to select a render region in Karma outside of typing something like .5 .5 .6 .6 into the Data Window NDC fields?

Yes. It´s not the best, but works. Use space+5 to go the image viewport and use shift+drag to create the region when Karma is active.
Oh nice, that works great! For me it's alt-drag though.

Great to know. I've used Solaris so much and was always using the image view/fixed aspect ratio one. That works fine, but it would be nice to be able to pick any size you want.

In addition to Siavash Tehrani's answer, there's also a "Render Region" button on the left viewport shelf.
