I have been following the Nvidea's development of Omniverse for the last half year or so.
The documentation keeps mentioning that a connector plugin is expected for Houdini. However, so far there has been nothing.
Does anyone know what the story is behind this development?

I was curious about this too as SideFX is listed as a partner on nVidia's page.

Just tried out Omniverse Drive (which mapped my server as a Windows drive) and was able to load Omniverse content into Solaris that way.
I was wonder about the Connector vapourware too but maybe that's why

So far nVidia has been authoring all the Omniverse connectors, so this is really a question for them to answer. I can say that because of the way Houdini incorporates the USD library directly into the Houdini distribution, the Houdini connector has been more complicated for them to work on than most, which accounts for the delay. Because Omniverse requires a customized USD build, the Houdini USD connector actually has to replace the USD library that ships with Houdini right now. The solution to this problem is fairly well understood, it just requires a fair bit of reorganization and effort on their part.
I will also say that even now this isn't vapourware. It just can't be packaged in a way that would be acceptable to most users, so I think they are doing the right thing by holding it back for now.
