Hello.

I am asked to do batch "Polygon Decimation 3dsmax files" using PDG/TOPs.
I would like to ask you everybody in this forum that...

1.Is it possible to do batch processing following using PDG/TOPs?
a)Open the 3dsmax Projects
b)Add ProOptimizer Modifier to the All Visible Meshes
c)Save as OriginalName_Optimized.max
d)Export FBX as OriginalName_Otimized.fbx to the specified location,
e)Close 3dmax
g)...Repeat the process until its end

2.How you guys do this kind of Batch Processing Polygon Reductions?

Any suggestions, ideas are welcome.

Thanks,

Usually directly using poly reduce in Houdini
That way you just load bunch of geo files using tops, process with sop network and output polyreduced geo files

But if you want to use 3ds Max, you can probably invoke it from Python Server block in TOPs and then send commands you need

Thanks for your advice, tamte!
Oh, Cool! Python Server Command Chain(Block) in TOPs seems the way out.

When you use Python Commands in TOPs, which ones do you recommends?
(I've never tested python TOPs things, so it sounds a bit newbie's questions though...)

  1. A. One Python Script Do Everything
  2. B. Bunch of Python Scripts which separated by the Process

Cheers,
