Houdini+Redshift -> ACES 1.2/sRGB -> Resolve/ffmpeg

Hi everybody,

I'm having difficulties keeping color consistency when I go from Houdini+Redshift's EXRs to Resolve or ffmpeg, to make an mp4 out of them.

In Houdini I'm using ACES 1.2/sRGB and in the past in Resolve I just had to apply a VFXIO/Linear to Gamma 2.2 LUT to get the same look. In the meantime I changed laptop and reinstalled everything and somehow it doesn't work anymore - see screenshot showing mplay and Resolve side-by-side.

I wonder if the fact I was previously using ACES 1.03 has anything to do with it.

Any tip?

Are you sure the ACES Output Transform should be ACEScg? I think that's where you should be setting the sRGB output transform. But I'm not very familiar with Resolve outside of the Fusion page.

Here are the settings I use in Resolve. I render from Arnold to ACEScg using an ACES 1.2-based config and all is working correctly.

Thank you both!

It turns out the problem was in Resolve but elsewhere. Adrian from Maxon (Redshift) found the solution. I had to set a clip attribute in Resolve to "None" instead of the "Premultiplied" default.

See his very helpful post and short video in the Maxon forum: https://redshift.maxon.net/topic/44417/houdini-redshift-aces-srgb-resolve/2 [redshift.maxon.net]

I'm so relieved. Thanks nevertheless for your help!!!
