Randomly select edges

I'm trying to find a way to create a group or string (“p0-1 p4-5…”) of a specific number of random edges. An example would be a group of 5 random edges from a geometry, but none of the edges are identical.

I can't seem to find a way to loop within Houdini without duplicating geometry.

Anyone run into this type of problem?

My main goal is to use the resulting selection within the edgedivide SOP as part of a chain that modifies geometry to match the number of points of another geometry, in order to be able to morph between the two.
