This might be a simple question but how can i extrude a cube with a similar result to that of mayas extrude?

So there will be a face to make it a solid?

Can you show what is Maya way? Not sure what you want to achieve.

Sorry i wasnt clear enough. basically maya creates a face at the front of the extrusion to make the object look solid where as houdini seems to just push out. sorry had to put it into words but the picture should give you an idea?

Under PolyExtrude SOP
1. for Keep Points Shared choose Use Normals
2. under Options tab check Output Back

Under the options tab for the poly extrude turn on “Output Back” which is off by default.

To avoid having to change those settings every time you do an extrude, bear in mind that you can set them as defaults either on a per-session basis by selecting “Make current values temporary defaults” in the gear menu at the top of the Parameter view, or “Save as Permanent Defaults” to have them persist across sessions. You can also save a preset to recall later as well.

It's a little thing but can save you a lot of time if you're doing a modeling job with many extrudes.
