Hi,
Could anyone tell me how to assign several materials to an imported object, which is composed of many parts. If I need to create groups for the object parts, please how to do it.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for your time. Of course I tried sop material, but it is assigned to the whole object. I want to assign multiple materials to the same object

Just select the primitives you want to group, press tab inside the 3d viewport and type in “group” and hit enter. That should create a group sop using the selected primitive numbers.

MMB on node and check if there any group exists. If there is no group. Then you need to create those.
There is many ways to create groups in Houdini. You can create interactively as tinyparticle suggested or based on connectivity using “connectivity” sop followed by “partition” sop. Since your geometry made of many parts, I would prefer connectivity method. If you are doing manually, make sure to turn on “Select Connected Geometry” 0 is hotkey for that.

And you can use new “assemble” sop also.
