Hi,
i am creating within a geo node with copy-node packed-prims with about 200.000 instanced prims.
Later i am creating another geo node with procedural point instance procedural
So what i expect is, that at render-time the instance of the “200.000 packed prims” are rendered, which is happening, but increasing the number of instanced (the points i am scattering for the instances) my ram footprint grows and grows, rendertime becomes very high (30 min)
I will send a hip file later. Does this problem sound familiar?
Instancing very slow

i'm not the master of huge projects but maybe i can help. :-)
have you seen on the houdini manual:
http://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini13.0/copy/packed_and_soups [sidefx.com]
maybe this tutorial will help:
https://www.sidefx.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2312&Itemid=259 [sidefx.com]
whats also possible is to use the delay load shader but it's hard to tell how good it will be in this project.
please sent a simple hip file to better analyse.
