and ‘disinfect and restart’ .

yeh, just got the german version of the warning-dialogue
and Ky went so far as to delete the download and all, so I´m downing it
for the third time right now… (thats why I´m bored enough to write this ) .
My guess would be that it´s the ‘submit-usage-statistics’-thing (which I enabled).
I remember having the same issue a year or two ago, but with the free avira.
Well, disabling statistics in the prefs (or the splash-dialogue) may help,
gonna try it later.
Cheers!

It worked out (somehow, after silencing Kaspersky for a brief time).
First installed H14, disabled the stats, uninstalled it, installed again.
With the ‘send-anonymous-usage-statistics’ disabled (prefs->micellaneous)
there was no trojan-alarm, but I had to OK all the porcesses, even after
installation, mantra.exe and everything raised prompts from Ky, so
maybe there had been changes with some signature or certificate or
something, I´m not into this, ask the specialists on that .
Greez!

Hhrrmm.. , oh man, after installing H14 and everything working I switched Kaspersky to automatic again and what do you think- just a few minutes ago
(Houdini was not even running) it went berserk again and desinfected
iconv.ptf or something, telling that it´s malware (GameThiefwhatnot),
just like before.
I have no clue, I consider dumping Kaspersky, it´s very annoying I must say,
but for now I´ll switch off automatic again (that worked if I´m not totally
mistaken).
If really there is malware in H14 it would have been known before now, huh?!
Guess Kaspersky is an Allergic.

No need for that, I think. Kaspersky is just going crazy right now.
It even disinfected and deleted a 13.621 build that I had lingering on an USB-stick and tried to install a few hours ago just to see
where the problem might be.
So it couldn´t possibly be Houdini, for I had this build already running on my previous machine without any problems and with the same setup (e.g. Kaspersky). Plus there would be dozens of other concerned users with
popup-warnings on their screens… .
Disabling automatic in Kaspersky lets you install H14 in any case,
if the evil ‘iconv.dll’ appears again, I´ll give it the treatment of
Your link .
thanks+

hi edward,
sorry, can´t get hold of the file,
I find Kaspersky rather awful to handle in this respect.
Plus I have it running on desktop and notebook and it only
gives alarm on one machine while not finding anything on the other one
(same file).
Weirdness!
Somebody else whitelist this,
I´m dumping Kaspersky.

I just had a similar problem. Downloaded H14.0.258 for the first time and as soon as I tried to install it was deleted by Kaspersky due to : Trojan-GameThief.Win32.Agent.ptf
I never had this problem with any previous version of Houdini (13, 12, 11) or any other program really.
I am trying to download the daily build and see if I have any better luck.

Hi there!
Following edwards advice
(e.g. uploading the file to https://www.virustotal.com [virustotal.com] )
helped in my case,
but Houdini has to be installed first in order to get the ‘iconv.dll’
which Kaspersky is complaining about on your desktop or somewhere
to upload it.
I tried to get it out of the installer, which of course didn´t work,
and wrongly blamed Kaspersky for not working .
What I finally did was disabling Kaspersky, installing Houdini, re-enabling
Kaspersky and grab the ‘iconv.dll’ and upload it to virustotal.
Proved to be quite harmless, Kaspersky´s scanner on virustotal didn´t find
anything malicious and up til now it hasn´t complained again.
Hope that´s productive
greets!
