Hi,

I just installed Houdini Indie on my laptop (running Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit), and when I start Houdini I get the error below.

Anyone know why this is happening? Many thanks.

Could not start SAS web responder:

Hello, did you get this fixed? I have H14 installed and used it without a problem until today when I got the same problem as you. It is down to the permission setting of the folder houdini14.0 (inside <user>/documents). it is now set to readonly. I could not change it from readonly (i tried cmdline as administrator etc). Only way around this is to select houdini indi in the programme app list, right click and run as administrator. It is probably as security tool I have running.

good luck

I right clicked on the “My Documents” folder and selected “Properties”. I then selected the “Security” tab and found that my name was no longer in the “Group or User names” dialogue box at the top of this tab. I clicked “Edit” right below the “Group or User names” dialogue box and then selected “Add” to add my name back to the “Group or User names” box and I gave myself “Full Control” under the “Permissions for SYSTEM” dialogue box. I hit apply and my problem was solved.

hello,I got the same problem as you, but i just fixed it. “My Documents” folder's directory was:“D:\….”, then i changed it back to “C:\….”, the original directory. then the problem was fixed.

The goddamn issue was caused by putting Houdini to other disc than the My Documents/houdini folder.

I solved the issue putting location of My Documents to the same disk where houdini was installed. Bingo. Icons were loaded,no errors.

OOOOH MOTHER OF GOODS

ok

I have all permissions as master of owners of whole My Computer universe but Houdini still can't write to MyDocuments

solution which worked for me:

Right click to Documents - location - move it to somewhere
now Houdini could write inside
then move it back to location before, but! not Restore move them to previous location
