Hey there, I'm quite new to houdini and have just been working with flip fluids. However I've run into a problem with imported obj files. Everything lookds fine but when I scrub the timeline the OBJ disappears and doesn't come back till I'm on frame one. I get the error “Unable to read file (file path)”. If anyone could help me with this problem that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Easy one - you've imported with ‘Show sequences as one entry’ checked in the File Import dialog.

Just turn that off so it imports it as a single frame.

I got excited then, thinking it was so easy. I tried, unfortunately no luck.

I tried to upload the obj, however it said .obj files are not allowed. Is this the screenshot you were looking for.

You can .zip compress your .obj file and upload.

I just ran a test with a similar file name and it imports fine. So no too sure why it's disappearing for you.

Ignore the pivot points of this OBJ, it's just a throw away I'm trying to play around with.

Thanks for the file. It's working fine on OsX 10.10.3 & Houdini 14.0.305

With issues like this it's worth downloading the latest daily build of Houdini and throwing away your Houdini preferences file.

After importing another object from maya, I'm now able to import the one I was initially having trouble with as well. Strange. Thanks for all of that though, was my first post on these forums. Good to know that people are willing to help here.
