I have an RDB simulation with some objects being knocked around. But I would like to constran them to the XY plane. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks, Patrick

Attached is an example file (v13). Is there a way to constrain all cubes to the XY plane?

I have a feeling that this can be achieved with the ‘Position’ dynamics node. But I have trued various settings (e.g. Set Always, with for position) but it is not having the desired effect. Any suggestions?

Thanks

I am still trying to solve this problem.

The ‘Position’ node does not seem to be the right one, so I am now trying to create a constraint. I am looking at the ‘Anchor: Object Space Position’ node. This has something called ‘Constraint Type’ that can be set to ‘Constrain to Plane’. This sounds like it should be doing the right thing, but it seems to have no effect. Which probably means that I am using the node in the wrong way. See attached file.

Thanks for any help

I followed some examples, and added a ‘Constraint’ node. I now get the message:

Constraint could not be processed by solver.

Hmmm… see attached.

you can try setting your P.z and v.z attribs explicitly to 0

Thanks Tamte. This was a great help - it worked perfectly.
