Hey guys so I'm learning loads on my Houdini destruction path, but I've noticed that sometimes the first few frames of my sim the geometry “wobbles” slightly. It doesn't happen all the time so I'm thinking that it may be when I dial in certain settings but I've seen lots of nice test simulations on vimeo where this doesn't happen.

Is there a general practice of setting the simulation to activate just before impact to avoid this, or on impact or is it just about balancing the constraint settings to avoid having the problem at all?

Hello.
In each rigid object you have bullet data tab for set physical property of rigid object.
One of these options is Enable Sleeping.
Play with two option Linear Threshold and Angular Threshold to get result you want.

I had no idea about those parameters so I'm going to have a good tweak with them and see what they do exactly!

Thanks for your help
