Hi Everyone,

I'm hoping to learn and utilise Houdini to create animations of our yacht designs. Within the company I work for, I am part of a team that models yacht designs using Autodesks Alias.

I understand that for someone who has never used fluid dynamics software, this will be a very long journey but our focus is quite specific.

We're looking for someone to guide us through the software and would be happy to pay on an hourly basis.

We have started by installing apprentice and working through all of the tutorials. The flat tank option seems to be the most suitable shelf tool for what we need and we would simply need someone to fill in the gaps on the tutorial from the default Flat Tank to the resulting video shown.

Of course, we understand that a more fundamental understanding of the software is essential but it may be a good place to start.

Is the Flat Tank tool the best route to go down or should I use Ocean Waves and go from there?

To start with, I have attempted to place a sphere in a Flat Tank. As you can see, the wake/particles look more like smoke so far. I have added an environment and lowered the particle separation to 0.05.

Any help would be greatly appreciated since we are so overwhelmed by the abilities of this software.

Many thanks,

Kyle

Hi Guys,

I'm making some slow progress with the flat tank tool and I was wondering if you can combine the flat tank with Ocean Waves?

Many thanks,

Kyle
