I just started using Houdini Apprentice. I have been following the Volcano smoke tutorial. In the tutorial the smoke generated in houdini in the viewport is really dense compared to the result I am getting. Is this to do with my system not strong enough? Will it make any difference once I render the sequence?

Thanks in Advance, I am really new to this.

Posting a project and some photos would help.

It doesn't have anything to do with your machine, except that if you have a slower computer, the sim time will go up a lot.

You can also reference this tutorial: https://www.sidefx.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3078&Itemid=407 [sidefx.com]

It sounds like you need to up your Density Scale in the smoke object under Multi and bring your division size down (smaller numbers equals finer particles and better looking smoke, but longer sim time.)

Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for the reply. I tried the Billowy smoke tutorial from the link you posted. I achieved the same result as the tutorial, I must have missed something in the Volcano smoke tutorial. I will give that one a go next.

Again thanks a lot for getting back to me so quickly!
