Noob problem. I have created a pomegranate in blender. I export the mesh alone as an obj. I import it into Houdini and it gives me the object . . . the only problem is there's nothing there. I have the rotate/scale/transform tools, but the mesh itself is nowhere to be seen in the viewport.
The exported obj can be found here:
http://www.2shared.com/file/1jCd43D9/model.html [2shared.com]
The original blend can be found here:
http://www.2shared.com/file/2uvRl2hI/model.html [2shared.com]
Or you can just download the attached zip file, it has both of them together.
Thanks!

Hi,

I have no problem importing your *.obj. I used “File\Import\Geometry”.

Perhaps your model is just out of view? Try selecting the Geometry container and use “space + g” with the cursor inside Scene View to zoom to the object.

I've attached the model exported as *.geo. Perhaps this works for you?

Regards
Carsten

Yes and another simple way to check your Obj file that imported correct or no ,is hold MMB on the file node and you should see your model's info like number of points (in this case it is 399 Poinrs !)
sometimes our model imported correctly but we can't see anything in the viewport ,cuase your VGA driver !
to check it you can chenge Viewport renderer from defualt OpenGL to H11 via Edit->Prefrences->3D Viewports->Scene Renderer

I got no errors on import..MMB on button on ‘node’ button, far right bottom says 2 sop's.

MMB menu , if Im understanding all this right (* Im a VERY big new with Houdini btw), shows .0001 ?

thx

my meant about MMB is :
When you hold Middle Mouse Button on the File node(or any node) , you can take some information and data about your geometry such as Number of Points and Primitives , Geometry Attributes and etc.

So if your obj file imported to the Houdini correctly , you should have some point number , But if not , You should have 0 point or event take an error or warning , So check it

You should have something like this :

100 Points
81 Primitives
324 Vertices
81 Polygons
