I'm going through the First Steps tutorials (http://www.sidefx.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=202&Itemid=361 [sidefx.com]) and I've got to Particles which was done in Houdini 12. Is it worth getting my head around these or should I just look at the new Houdini 13 system?

I've just done this tutorial: https://vimeo.com/95644892 [vimeo.com] which is great but I like the systematic nature of the First Steps tutorials. (there's a lot to take in!)

the tutorials for houdini 12 particle system are absolutely fine because most of the concept can be adapt to the houdini 13 particle system. to learn theme is not a waste of time.
