RBD packed object collision data

Hi,
I basically have made an rbd packed object from points on a cube. Using metaball and some pop forces I've made the points ( instanced on them a platonic) attract together then explode apart.
I need to make each object stop when it hits the ground plane. I looked into doing this with particles as the collision would be easier, but when all the points are attracted together I need them to collide with each other.
Is there an easy way to get the points where the objects collide on the ground plane ? and de-activate them immediately?
