Hi
How can I simulate snow system (like crumbling or walking a character on it) in the Houdini ?
can I use new Grain feature for this purpose ?

That tutorial goes about setting up a flip and pop solver, wired into a multi-solver with some extra nodes.
As it dates from before H14, it does not cover the PBD Grain.
But I definitely encourage you to take a look at it.

I've been watching it myself for the past couple of days.
Although it is very informative, I've been running into some issues with not getting the same results.
Which is how I ended up here, as I am looking for more information on simulating snow.

Cool!
I didn't know that paper was available. I've only seen the video.

I'll read through it and see if I get any wiser about snow sims.
Although at first glans, seeing those formulas, I get the feeling it's going to be way beyond my comprehension… :?

I think I'll most likely be implementing that OTL and see how far I get with that.

Thanks for the links!

Well, I can't seem to install the OTL.

As he mentions in his tutorial.txt, the Command Line Tool reports that it couldn't find Visual Studio VC installation directory.
So I installed Visual Studio, but it still didn't go.
Maybe I'm not installing the correct things, but I wouldn't know what it is exactly that I need.

Then when I try to install the .otl itself in Houdini, Houdini just crashes the moment I hit accept.
Perhaps this is because I couldn't install the script yet?

I have no clue when it comes to these matters.

strange…I was about to build and install this a few weeks ago…
I'll try to check later and see if there is some kind of version issue…
