Show VOPSOP ramp control on Null

Hi all,
I'm just playing around with Houdini and, when I make something that has several control parameters, I like to put them onto a single null and get the relevant nodes to reference the controls on this null. Fairly standard behaviour.

However, when it comes to ramp parameters, in a VOPSOP in this case, they are automatically generated on that node, and I cannot seem to get the ramp parameter in the VOPSOP network to reference the ramp on the null.

I've attached a simple image just in case I'm being unclear.

I'm sure this can be done but I can't find anything on how to do it.

To manually link them, you need to use the opmultiparm hscript command. This isn't a problem if you do a parameter promotion when creating an HDA or using Edit Parameters where Houdini runs this behind the scenes for you.

Thanks for the reply Edward.

I have no idea where to actually use the opmultiparm command.

If I try and add it to the position and value parameters it only gets set for the current ramp point that is displayed, so I'm guessing that's not the place to put it

Promote a ramp on an HDA, and then you can run the opmultiparm command on the node inside to see an example of how to do it correctly. But maybe the drag and drop on the Edit Parameters window will work as well.

while linking of 2 ramps is not very straightforward and sometimes requires opmultiparm (especially to link VOP ramp), I haven't find a way so far to successfully unlink them (unless done through Edit Parameter Intrerface if they were promoted)

is there any way to do that?
like when you copy node referencing ramp and paste somewhere else, the links are still there, even though invalid, is there a way to get rid of those links?

The real question: Is there a reason for making ramp parameter linking different than all other parameter types?

Ramps behave different in so many ways that sometimes I feel like it's a 3rd party plugin.

As a beginner, I find them very confusing.

I'm still trying to get my head around Edward's response
