Hello I would like to make an animation of a ribbon bow that you see on a gift box such as this https://thumb9.shutterstock.com/display_pic_with_logo/81243/81243,1286621492,2/stock-photo-gold-gift-bow-isolated-on-white-62683189.jpg [thumb9.shutterstock.com]

The ribbon would be tied in the bow shape and need to untie in a realistic manner. I'm unsure of what would be the best approach to achieve this. If anyone has advice on how to do this I would be grateful.

Hi Nathan,
i would advice you to go out and buy a lace. Now look at what happens when you untie it in real life.
This is not trivial to do realistically.

You could do this with some sort of cloth/wire simulation see: http://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini/dyno/cloth [www.sidefx.com]

I would advice strongly to do a sort of small story board. Maybe you can get away with cheating and not doing it realy realistically.
