Take alpha from particles and use on VDB?

Newbie question I'm sure: I've got animated particles appearing and fading out using a POP VOP and I'm turning those particles into a fog VDB.

Is it possible to take the Alpha ramps on those individual particles and use them to change the density on individual voxels of a VDB? I'd like to have the VDB dissipate like the particles do.

But I can't figure out the way to map the Alpha to Density on a per particle level. The Volume VOP maps to the entire VDB.

I've looked around the internet but not found any solutions yet.
