I have been struggling with the Karma Baker for the last day. Countless tests did not help me to find the root problem. I am sure, there is a fundamental misunderstanding on my side, so maybe some of you Houdini cracks can help me out!
I have this scene where I want to render out my maps with a cage mesh. If I bake without the cage, everything looks fine apart from some artifacts from rays casting too far. So the natural solution would be a cage that limits this. If i set up a cage though it mingles my maps in a weird way. If I use the labs map baker with the cage everthing looks fine... So I cant fully understand where the problem lies.
Thanks for sharing the hip file. This appears to be a bug in the cage-mesh mode (specifically in the topology-matching step). I’ll update you once the fix is ready. Thanks!
Menawhile as a workaround you may convert the mesh to quads before trying to bake. This will preserve the topology and results in a better baking maps.
