PDG/TOPs » PDG Running On GPU cores

Running a simulation with PDG it can be decomposed in about 800 tasks. Using the 10 cores of my CPU does not help too much. I would like to run the simulations as fast as my full pc can afford.

Would it be possible to throw that 800 processes to the GPU cores instead of the CPU cores?

If it makes sense, can somebody give me some steps or guidances about how to implement it?

Hello everyone.

I am trying to get a collision between Tommy and the grains inside a POPNetwork. I tried plenty of different combinations: increasing substeps, compute velocity with trails and so on… but can not get any collission.




Am I doing something wrong? Can I not define grains inside PopNet?

Appreciate any kind of help because have been struggling with it for more than a while.

I attach the file so it will be easier to take a look.

Hello everyone.

Could somebody give an understandable general explanation about the SOP Solver inside a DOP network? When should I use it? And why instead of a POPWrangle? If it is a Solver, where is the previous frame?

I dont understand neither this from the documentation:
“By using an expression like stamps(”../OUT“, ”DATAPATH“, ”../.bjname/Geometry“) in an Object Merge SOP, the output of the previous timestep can be used as the starting point for the next timestep within the SOP Network.”

As this node exist since at least 10 years, does somebody know any tutorial, help material, free, paying, praying whatever ??

Trying to explain it better:
1st line is generated af frame 40
2nd line is generated at frame 42

I want to introduce them into the POPsource at each corresponfing frame: 40 and 42.

I was trying some expression that gives a True 1 result on frame 40 and 42. (Something like $$FF=@sFrame)

BUT it seems that the dopnet only read the attributes an the first frame. So I was trying to get the attribute value @sFrame outside of the DOPNetwork with some expression like this: ($F==point(“/obj/SIM/OUT_dynamicCurves_DAV/, ”sFrame", 0))



Can somebody help me to understand how could I do it?

How can I introduce into the DOPNetwork two geos that are born at different frames?

Hello everyone, I need some help here.

As you can see in the picture, one line started at frame 40 (@sFrame=40) and the other one started af frame 42 (@sFrame=42).




I want to pass them inside the dopnet exactly at that frame, so I use one expression on “Impulse Activation”: something like $$FF=@sFrame. I tried many combination but could not make it work.




Can somebody help with that?

Hello I need to ask something:

I want the pieces of the broken box to move with velocity in the direction of the surrounding points.


I tryed opening a point cloud, so that each broken piece can find one point and create a velocity pointing to its position.






But for some reason all pieces from the box move to (0,0,0).

Can somebody help me to understand whats going on?

I would like to re-open the question because I am now in the same situation.

I have a complex geometry and would like to create a single one proxy mesh from it.

The “Tube Trick” allows to get one single mesh, and works okay with very simple geometries. When the geo is complex it is not enough.

I am trying to create a single mesh with vdbs and convert node, but I get many meshes.





So the question is:
How can I get one single proxy mesh from the object? I need one single mesh because that is the requirement for the creep node.


Hope somebody can help.

Hello, I need some recommendations.

I would like to use the Creep node with the figure you can see on the picture.



As I can read in the help doc. I need the object to be a mesh or Nurbs surface, so I tryed to convert it with the convert node. In both cases I can only creep on a small polygon, but not all along up the figure.

I also tryed with the Ray node to proyect a tube all arround the figure, but the result is quite awkward.




Also took a look at the examples in the documentation but didnt help too much as the surfaces used to creep are very simple.

Can somebody give some ideas about what could be my mistakes or maybe recommend another way of doing it?

I am trying to grow some particles inside the holes of the geometry and them spreading them all over the surface of the geometry.

I am using volumesample and volumegradient to keep the position on the surface, but for some reasson it is not working.

Hello everybody, I can type [ and { anywhere but NOT inside Houdini.

Am I missing some kind of setup?

Is really anoying with Vex to have to copy them from somewhere else.
