Try it yourself to get the difference. I honestly am not understanding what you dont understand, that states it crystal clear.

Unique points kind of separates all the face primitives. 4 example if you have a sphere and you unique the points you will have 4 points where there was just 1, each corresponding to the surrounding faces. So if you pre compute normals you can have the smoothed effect for each NOW separated Face Primitive .

Hope this helps
G.

Hey guys, howr things?

Im trying to model an gate arch, so i generated a circle to copy my bricks to and of course i used the polyframesop to generate the normals along the path. But as it seams the the normals have also a spin around their own axis incremental to the point count, so that prevents me for aligning them in the right way. Can anyone help me with this one.
Thx
G.

thanks again man, In this particular case your file is exactly what I want, the thing is that the sphere is just an example of geometry, because I want apply the system to other kind of objects much more complex. so the “bounding sphere selection” won't be useful in that case.

Check out the GroupGeo more closely, if you would have done that, you would have seen that in that same drop-down-menu there is also “Bounding object (points only)”. It lets you chose the geometry with which you want to select your inside-points-boxes.
eetus scene taught me some other ways around the problem so check it out.

But thanks anyway for the feedback and the good vibe!!

Sure thing man.thats why we are around here to get and share the knowledge about Houdini.
Cheers

See its starting to move forwards.
This is all i could do. Like i said before there may be many ways to do this.
This makes your obj a bit lighter. Hope this is more or less what you want.
Cheers

Very handy indeed if you combine it with the sort sop.
Thanks man.

from freshman to freshmen.
Go over some tutorials to start thinking procedurally. Mos of freshmen ask “linear” questions about a nonlinear package not to mention the language difficulties . Once you untie your brain everything becomes clear even chaos.
Share your scene, clarify your request. This will get you moving.

As for your question. You may want to check the GroupGeometry You can procedurally delete your inside-boxes with some geometry selection by feeding to it the geo. in your case a smaller sphere. Chose the bounding obj your geometry volume. This lets you select only points.

(note: this is also a freshmen s answer there may be tons of ways to do what your asking)

Hope that helps.

One thing I have heard (haven't experienced this myself) is that an SSD (solid state drive) can greatly speed up your fluid sims due to constantly reading/writing huge amounts of data. This could conceivably make more of a difference than faster CPU's since hard drives can be such a choking point, but I am not sure at this point.
-Craig

From what I have heard the Solid State Drives make a huge difference, the only bad is you cant recover or fix anything on them once its damaged and you must replace it. If theyr gone theyr gone. So in other words you can work but they are not suitable for storage. I was thinking of a SDD hdd for system and apps and some sata for storage.
I dont know if it would really speed up houdinis fluid sims but playing 20 full HD videos real-time simultaneously seams like a pretty fair transfer rate. Im sure some of the chaps around here have some experience with that.

yes I figured, it does not make sense in the houdini mindset. .
But thank you for the hips anyways.

I tend to use the “Max Iterations” parameter for this purpose.

Can you plz elaborate a bit on that kind sir. Im sorry im a Houdini newb myself.

The FoeachSp displays the last primitive based on your prim index, So a SortSop would give you the control you need. Just shift the last prim index to the area you need to display.

That does it thank you. It seams I need a while to start thinking procedurally and crush the cliché that other apps force you to fall into.

Yup that does it thank you. Is there any other way to feed to it the geometry shape in case you dont want to use the bounding of the GroupSOP?
