This year was so different than last year for me. I can't believe I have done this Mardini while moving to the UK. I didn't learn much but I upgraded my skills and efficiency and I can clearly see an improvement from last year. My submissions felt more complete and polished especially from a LOP and rendering point of view. Also this year was my first year using GreyScaleGorilla. The textures were so helpful. I used it for every entry. Glad I participated again!

I'm a bit sad that we lost the daily node video from Moeen, found those really useful and great for inspiration.

Congrats to everyone who pushed it to the last day! Congrats to every challengers that submitted great entries! I really love this community! And of course, big thanks to SideFX for the amazing work and being the best software and company out there!

I am amazed by the result of this one. The setup is so simple but I was proud how straight forward it was. I had this picture of a frozen branch and tried to replicate it in Houdini. Nicely done

Tried to make it loop but had some issue, so here it is.
Used GSG for the plaster and a felt material under the hair. couples of gobo and HDRI.

The base of the setup was based on Meradi Omar's tutorial : procedural transform matrices hierarchy.

Look! A dancing tree! Love how the grass turned out.

I used GSG for the clay textures, the model of the tree and the clouds. I added a bit of VDB modeling for the eyes and mouth.

Kine FX is not my strength, will see how it goes! Didn't have much time or inspiration for this one. Love the touch of the motion blur artefact if you can spot it. Funny suprise after render time.
