Again, thanks Rob for the in depth help and the backport steps. I'll give that a go.
Havin a toggle would be great if that's technically doable!

Hi Rob! Thanks for clarifying this! It was driving me nuts.
Now my question to you, is it possible to let the user decide that? I mean, having an option somewhere that allows to spawn frames or jobs for work-items?
Because quite frankly having houdini deadline spawn 1000s of jobs is quite terrible if you ask me.
Especially in a shot context, imagine a shot having several render layers, lots of frames, this will become a nightmare really quick.
Is there a workaround for now, maybe using the 20.0 deadline scheduler plugin?

Hey I hope I can further add questions to this. I'm using deadlinescheduler for the first time in TOPs and I find it quite hard to grasp the concept. Using 20.5.278 - I want to render my karma stage with several wedge options to control lightrigs/shots.
I was expecting that when cooking the output node, that each work-item will be submitted under a single job.
This is an extract from the deadlineschedule docs.
In my case, it creates a new deadline job housing a single frame.
Either something is broken, or I'm missing a setting to have a single job, with the work items as frames.

Any help with this would be highly appreciate! I'm also on Houdini-and-Chill / Houdini Academy discord servers - arvidurs.

With this scheduling type, the node also schedules one main job with a task for each work item generated

Okay, I can just launch the standalone licensemanager instead opening it through houdini. that allows me to license it.

I just tried the latest labs build on Houdini 19.5.640 - I'm getting a lot of QT errors when trying to open the license manager. Is there a way to license the product without the UI? Or are there other workarounds?

I got some help else where that is a solid workaround that solves my question. it can be quite useful, especially in doing a lot of shot work where you need to jump to different location in the nodegraph and see the result in the viewer, manipulate things etc, and yet have the render window always render from the cooklocation. it super cumbersome to always navigate around in the graph to start the render.

Hello - coming from Katana I'm missing quite a powerful feature that is to set a render flag on a node, and Hydra will always evaluate and render from that flagged node location, no matter where the display flag is set.
Is that something we can do in Solaris too and I'm just missing it, or is that not possible at this moment?

stheoThanks! I tried that, and it shows the values thanks! One problem, that seems to be a bug, is that the values are all clamped to 1?
Try this:
Can you confirm that?

Especially for lookdev and lighting, getting accurate pixel values under the pointer is very significant.
Is there a way to enable that? Mantra render enables that, by control clicking and you get a popup. Other renderers have a live view of pixel values under the pointer, similar in nuke.
If this is not possible, it should be a feature request, right?

Hello -
when adding OCIO config to my loading packages Houdini slows down to a crawl.
With OCIO it's around 1 min 23 seconds to start up
with NO OCIO loaded it's 16 seconds!
I'm using OCIO and Aces 1.2
Can that be looked in to please.
