If i jump right into indie will I be able to install and use 15 too? Or am i stuck to 14 then?
And can anyone tell me why I didn't start learning Houdini earlier? Its such a mighty brainbreaker (in a good manner)!

Hi, thats an interesting riddle, and I would like to know too how this could be achieved. Also I'm a big time noob here.
I managed to get geo copied onto primitives but not the points with your method so that the copied meshes change the direction. They orient, but not that much. Don't know how you can tell them to do better
About the size I have no idea, sorry. Maybe with a copy stamp method, but so far, I'm at learning…
Here is what I got so far:

Houdini Lounge » Preview window behaves strange when viewport splitted?

McNistor, that behaviour seems a bit random to me.
I don't think its a limitation of the Apprentice version - because it works if I make Houdini “windowed” but really large on my screen.
If that should not work in Apprentice version it should not start to render at all with the preview tool activated.
Does anyone else have such issues?
I will try this at my home computer aswell, but later that night (gmt +1), lets see if it's just this computer here or something else.

another one, this is a screenshot from a floating window on my second screen:
I don't think thats the desired behaviour?
Should I reinstall Houdini?
What could be the issue?

First, my Setup:
Houdini 14.0.335 Apprentice
Windows 7 Pro 64bit
2 1920x1080 Screens
GTX 780
If I use the render region tool while using Houdini windowed with splitted viewport, the render region tool seems to behave as it should:
But as soon as I use it full screen, the render region tool seems to be confused and tries to render that whats on the opposite side. I don't know how to better describe that behaviour, therefore I made screenshots. Here it looks like if I use Houdini full screen (maximized):
I thought that it would be nice to look through the light to position on one side of the viewport while using the render region on a cam view on the other side - for that task I have to change to windowed mode.
Maybe its's a PEBKAC?

Thank you for your hint, you are right, the length parameter seems not be useable for that. I will take a look at the suggested scatter SOP.
Maybe I can try to “travel” along the curve and generate after a distance points. Something like that.
Fascinating software. Thank you for provide an apprentice version. I think after getting something done I will switch to indie.

I encountered issues with the built in help that appears when you click the blue ? on the top right. I could not navigate around, and my mouse pointer seems to act weird. By that I mean if I hovered on the right over an entry on the left toolshelf the buttons hightlighted….
So, I just encountered that you can use the help in an other browser (firefox, safari,…) too, by using this url. You have to click in houdini first the ? to initialize the built in webserver, then you can this ur:
http://localhost:48626/ [localhost]
I hope that helps someone else, who have issues with it.

Hi,
this is my very first post here in the forums. I've installed Houdini Apprentice and started playing around (finally, after a few years) and I must say I'm really, really impressed with the possibilities it offers and now I've only scratched on the surface. I'm playing with Blender and MODO as a hobby and would like to dive into procedural modeling. Its amazing!
Now I'm trying to resample a curve.
What I got:
A Polycurve -> Convert(to nurbs) -> Resample
Here I would like to use a float ramp to drive the “Length” parameter of the Resample node. I bet it's possible, but I don't know how.
Thank you all for your kind help, Gregor
