Houdini Engine for Unreal » Unreal not loading material overrides

Is there a way to just tell Unreal what files to load in directly through the HDA? I can then just reassign them to an instanced material in Unreal. Otherwise I would have to manually load them in which doesn't make much sense here.

I've been searching and searching and testing many different setups but no matter what I try I can't get material overrides to properly work with an HDA inside of Unreal.

My setup is simple, a for loop that sets the material and override for the basecolor_texture. But no matter what I do this only imports blank when in unreal. The only way I can get it to load the texture in is by hard coding the path directly in the shader. Is it even possible to do this? My end goal would be to load the textures in then assign them to an instanced Unreal material but I first need to get them loaded.

Any help would be appreciated.

Ok so i've fixed it? Not really sure what it was since I still get the errors when baking the agent but here's what I did;

Under the assumption the rig and or the way the file was structured was the problem I imported the file FBX from MakeHuman into maya first (unsure if this step is necesary) and exported it back out of maya still as an FBX. This seems to restructure the FBX when importing into Houdini, perhaps an issue with how MakeHuman is exporting.

After that I used Mixamo, although it didnt recognize that my file was already rigged so I used the auto rigger and downloaded the FBX file. I still get similar error messages but as far as I can tell no popping or glitching.

Oh strange, I didnt notice those before. Going to see if i can use a different export other than fbx maybe to fix this. It looks like Mixamo and MakeHuman are applying animation to the geo instead of the bones themselves? Ill try a collada file maybe.

Also the issue goes away for the most part if i just turn the retiming off in the sim. Not sure what that means but it only pops when its being retimed or in a transition point.

Hi,
I've been using Houdini for a little while now and just getting into crowd sims. I wanted to setup one using the example crowd sim provided in Houdini. I grabbed a model from MakeHuman and animation from Mixamo. I was able to get it mostly working but when i run the sim there's random popping that happens that looks like the rig or cache is breaking. I can't seem to find out where this is coming from and I'm not sure what to even search for. I'm attaching my scene if anyone can give it a look or point me in the right direction I would appreciate your help.
