Hi! I have changed something by mistake and my camera is broken - it cuts the ground plane at the bottom, it cuts geometry and it doesn't react to focal length change. Could you please advise what have I done and how to fix this? Here's a screenshot.

Hello Matt,
Thank you for helping me with this. The problem was rolling background I created. It is very strange that such background creates such effects. Very disappointing.

It's just simple Platonic object with Facet and glass material. Raytracing bias is set to 0.001 and object is in the default size.
Could you please try to render a clean crystal like this?

It was very hard to light it properly, because I wanted to light the interior of a tube. I ended up blending two renders in Photoshop. Thank you for your time and will to help me, Matt.

Hello Matthew,
I would like to have both reflections, however in a place where they intersect, I would like to have only one light reflection visible. If both reflections are visible in intersection, it is just too bright.

Is there something like cookie operator for lights? I would like to extend the reflection of one light by adding another light, however in the place where they meet, the light reflection is doubled. Is it possible to reflect second light only where first light is not visible?

I have increased pixel samples to 9 and the rendering is extremely slow. Moreover some of those dirts are still there. Do you know any more efficient way of dealing with it?
And one more question. Why there are white stripes across crystal? How can I remove them?

OK, I see what's the problem. It's pixel samples in matra renderer. I increased it and it's fine now.

So what settings would you use to draw a curve that represents black shape like this?:
Please try to draw such shape and let me know if you have succeeded.

Could you please advise if Houdini has similar tool to the Photoshop Pen tool? Unfortunately the Curves tool is not as flexible as PS Pen tool. I need to make some sharp edges mixed with round edges and I need a control over curvature.
Pen tool is just fantastic whereas using Curve tool is a nightmare when I want to draw something that has both round and sharp edges.

That was question to sidefx employees. I know that there is no possibility to run simulations on GPU at the moment. I know also about Octane and Redshift, but maybe sidefx is working on in-built GPU renderer?

Hi, could you please advise if you are working on making simulations in Houdini computed fully by GPU or something like 10% CPU and 90% GPU? Working only on CPU is very very slow (OpenCL support is not helping much). It would be great if you could add also GPU based renderer.

arctor
did you try the tests in the file I posted?
Hello, yes I have checked it. Here are my results:
render micropolygon:
1000x1000 - 3 sec (your time 2)
3000x3000 - 21 sec (your time 11)
render PBR:
1000x1000 - 8 sec (your time 4)
3000x3000 - 1 min 3 sec (your time 21)
with principledShader - diffuse texture
render micropolygon:
1000x1000 - 7 sec (your time 5)
3000x3000 - 51 sec (your time 28)
render PBR:
1000x1000 - 12 sec (your time 5)
3000x3000 - 1 min 40 sec (your time 34)

OK, sorry. I was doing it a little bit different. I was placing camera directly above the grid and filling frame with the grid.
Now it takes only 35 seconds because grid does not fill the frame.
