setting them to post multiply seems to have fixed the problem though i don`t understand why.

Hello,
I Have an ik rig and it when I move the joint it moves in the opposite direction.
I don`t understand why this is happening and what I can do about it.
I have tried removing the mirror pt atribute bit this didn`t help.

your question is unclear to me.
Do you mean face as in human face, a polygon or a surface at the front of something with complex geometry ?
I'm not sure what u mean here is a solution.
If you need a circular projection or any other sort of projection, you need to offset the back group with an atribute.
If you have anny work you can trow my way please do so.
I could also be that all you need a match size or just a lattice.
THere is also an entrgma tutorial on making a lattice per quad that has a lot of info on it conserning how to write vex doing something similar.

Hello i was wondering if there is a way to bake procedural materialX displacement to an image file so I can deform my proxy geo with it.

maybe you can ad a variable that changes the intensity acording to 1 + scale*ishoudinigl?

You can cache and probably saving it to a USD file won’t hut.

I'm having some problems setting up costum libraries.
Just trying to set up a python rc on its own doesn’t seem to be working.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
I have this in my package's dir at.
/home/nanghe/houdini19.5/packages
Journey.json
And I have this here.
/home/nanghe/CGI/frameworks/journey/houdini/python3.9libs/pythonrc.py
nothing is printed on startup.

step 1 of troubleshooting is always try running it on the latest daily build.
Providing a hip file whould also be helpfull.

Hello,
I have gotten to a point where i need/want something like the Arnold distance shader in karma.
I have thought about using a divide node + distance to geo but my pc crashes when i try and get the gridsize up to what i want it to be.
is there anything i can do with shader nodes to create something similar ?
I gues having the outside geometry act like a non working lightsource and then measure the ray lengths could work Idk any ideas are welcome.

Am I Really the only person that does all the modelling in Houdini and thinks that it lacks nothing ?
I think Houdini is a great modeller once you set up keyboard shortcuts.
And the way i c things is that people are probably just reluctant to replace key bindings.
Better sculpting would be great, but maybe not the best place to focus their time and energy.
Since at 20 they’ll probably start having to support a full texture painting workflow.

Hello, I’m here to revive this old thread.
After loading a hip file in my startup script my shelves no longer work, I get the error,
cannot find the definition of the shelf set 'shelf_set_1' requested by the current desktop
Also, shelf tabs only shows <empty>
Anyone know what to do ?
I have tried loading manually with
hou.shelves.loadFile("/****/****/houdini19.5/toolbar/default.shelf")
