Of course that is recognized, but you all need to realize that Houdini was never really viewport oriented app. 95% of stuff in Houdini was done through Network view, totally different concept tan any other app out there. It is changing but slowly. We all realize what are you talking, I am sure devs also, but resources are limited I guess.
And in McNistor case if he invested half time into adapting to Houdini way of doing things and not into making Houdini XSI and letting us know every single difference he encountered

I have ASUS G751JY, works great with Houdini, cooling is great. Large, not super mobile. You can also do renderings with it, but I would recommend desktop for longer renderings.

You can mouse over property, on Mantra surface node or inside on VOPs nodes, and that will give more descriptive name.

I would like to see more work on Mantra, maybe add GPU support to speed up some parts of it … As with Indie you have only one render node, so if render times are high you can not utilize other machines (if you have them) to speed up render unless you buy one more Indie licenses (up to 3 ?). In my case on current project, I decided to purchase new graphic card for that amount of $ and speed up render times by 2, but had to move project to Blender. I think that with Redshift it could be even faster…
I am not sure though does Gridmarkets work with Indie too? Did not test them yet so not sure about costs there.

I usually fix these by playing with Tolerance. I mange to fix your scene like that too. On surfsect node it looks that artefact surface is there but on Convert node it is gone.

I have tried the Brush select and the Laser Select tools but they don't behave like raycast in Soft. For example, to select edges, I just want to drag the mouse over many edges to select them. How?
What I find weird with the Brush Select tool is that one has to drag the mouse over a point to select its surrounding edges…
Again, can you record screen? This is not happening to me at all.

Back to object isolation. Yes this is the problem I felt as well McNistor: in object level the “hide other object” display mode doesn't work.

I was using and still use few 3D apps including XSI, and I exactly know what are you talking about. Isolate in XSI is exactly what you have already in Houdini, it is on object level. Also you can hide not just on object level, but also in Edit/Component mode and that is what is required here.
I am not saying this is not good to have, I was just asking how this will be implemented into Houdini way of work.
I usually walk through nodes and if do not remember where I hit Isolate …. that is why I like Visibility, exactly know where it is hidden.
I guess this is because most of users are working entirely in one SOP. Like this character, one would import/create into one SOP and work like that. So what you have in Houdini already, will not work as you need. If this is done in XSI, Isolate would not work there, correct?
