Houdini makes all paths relevant to $HIP in file/save dialog

I have a second install of Houdini on a computer that renders faster than the one I typically work on, Windows 11, and it replaces all paths in the file/project dialog boxes with $HIP, even if I type them out. This applies to any path I bookmark, and all recent files/projects, even if they were set non-relatively. This is annoying--I have to set a project, open it, then set it again since I'm now in the $HIP directory. It doesn't have anything to do with working in a "blank" file, as I always start/set a project before working/saving, but it doesn't let projects be set to anything other than $HIP. And the bookmarks aren't just a visualization--they actually don't work properly; for instance, I can't access a Dropbox bookmark once I have saved a file in a project, because that relative path no longer works. I assume it's a preference or environment setting somewhere, right?
