The H21 Quad Remesher has an input for Guides, but does anyone know what kind and how to use those ?

I tried plugging in some Strokes and Guides but that only resulted in errors.

select the node and you can choose a few example setups from Preset dropdown including QuadRemeshReferenceInputExample and QuadRemeshGuidingExample

Ah, thanks.

The "reference edges" input is not even used I see, that would be too easy I guess ;-)

It seems to work with a attribute transfer from curves, so the 2nd reference input is just to make it more confusing ??

look at both mentioned examples, they serve different purposes, one is using the reference shape

I see, I didn't check that one.

I must confess that this seems like a strange way to guide the quadremesh. It might work with a nice basic lowpoly mesh as in the example with the pighead, but it would be a whole different struggle to make this work with something like a decimated mesh from Zbrush as in this image, which is the case most of the time.

Why no curves input to guide the remesh I wonder ?

I'm hoping that is on the to-do list.

fo now you can still use guiding setup which uses curves to define the flow

yep, the curve setup with attribute transfer is available, but I sure hope this will be automated somehow someday in the future.

Glad the current default quadremesh already looks very good.

But thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

I was a little unclear there. What I'm really hoping for is an 'absolute' curve guide. One that absolutely enforces a hard edge on the remesh. Until then the quad remesher seems of little use in non-organic hard surface work.
