Slow render with instancepoint()

When using instancepoint() to vary color of instanced points, render time is at least 5x slower.
Is that expected behavior?

After little more experimenting I figure out that whenever I use instancepoint() in shader Mantra renders with one core only. Is this bug? Can anyone confirm this?
