Houdini Master Version 12.0.581
Windows Vista
GeForce 9650M GT
With H11 everything always worked fine but now I installed H12 on my laptop.
At first I had these display problems: Geometry was very rendered in a very strange way (covered with black patches).
To solve this problem I tried to change the following:
Edit -> houdini preferences -> 3d Viewport -> scene Renderer …
I tried all scene Renderers: H11, Gl 1.2 and Gl 2.1
even though the H11 scene Renderer rendered properly, all of them caused houdini to crash when I added more than two geometry-objects.
Has the time come that my crabby laptop can´t keep up with the developement of houdini?
Or is it a vista problem? - When I downloaded H12 there were only the options to download for xp or for win 7 but not for vista.
would be nice if anybody could help me!
It´s a bit sad to install H11 again but for now i don´t have another option. :cry:
Greetings
Gerd!

Your drivers seems to be very old. I think updating them would be a nice idea. There should in theory be nothing stopping you from running H12 with the 2.1 viewport enabled.
Other than that I take all chances at getting people away from Windows so you could try slapping some Linux distribution on it.
