oftentimes i'll have an env variable as an expresion placeholder, then later, when wrapping up an hda, replace the env variable with a 'paste copied relative references'… that operation currently replaces the entire field with the channel expression.

Wouldn't it be nice if you could paste the channel expression into what you have highlighted in the field so that your potentially elaborate expression doesn't get blown away?

For instance, in a popnet's Start Time parameter i might have: $RFSTART/$FPS

If I highlight and RMB($RFSTART) > ‘paste copied relative references’
id rather see ch(../../startframe)/$FPS than ch(../../startframe)

Highlighting everything or nothing would paste the whole channel ref as it does now, but it would be convenient to have this menu option paste into what has been highlighted as simple CTRL-V would.

i often end up doing a “paste copied rel ref” on another parm just to copy the ch(“../parmName”) and paste it into the right place, then clearing out what i just entered in the wrong parm. Kind of sub-optimal.
