Override usdpreview texture at prim level?

Hi,

Are there ways to override the texture of a usdpreview shader that is on multiple prims, at the prim level so you can see them in the viewport?

Normally, you can use USD Primvar Reader feeding into the USD Preview Texture, and then author primvar attributes on geometry primitives. However, viewport reads only a handful of common primvars (eg, uv), so textures might not work currently.
