3D Generalist (Houdini!) - Planetarium

Morehead Planetarium and Science Center at UNC Chapel Hill is looking for a full time 3D Generalist.
We use Houdini as our primary content creation tool paired with Maya, Nuke and Adobe CC.

This position is perfect for a media design and animation specialist and would be responsible for developing fulldome digital planetarium films, VR, exhibition interactives, and other media designed to engage, inspire, and entertain school children and the public about current science research. The position can be remote or on site in North Carolina. Flexible schedule, no crazy clients, and tons of artistic freedom.

Qualification and Experience Requirements:
Strong eye for cinematic composition and storytelling through animation. Advanced knowledge of professional-level 3D animation, rendering, modeling, and motion graphic tools. Ability to work with scriptwriters and build storyboards and concept art. Interest in using digital media as a tool for science education. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to meet production deadlines. Ability to offer technical, creative, aesthetic, and practical input into creating fulldome digital planetarium films, VR, exhibition interactives, and other media. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
Education Requirements:
Multimedia design professional with a bachelor's degree in animation, digital media production or a media-related field or equivalent professional experience.
